Our client, a long-standing and successful family-run business, is looking for an experienced and commercially minded UK Haulage Rates & Procurement Specialist to join our European freight forwarding business.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of UK domestic haulage rates, market trends and transport costs.
- Negotiate competitive rates with UK hauliers and transport subcontractors.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and new transport providers.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and challenge uncompetitive carrier pricing.
- Manage and maintain haulage rate sheets and pricing databases.
- Source competitive rates for FTL, LTL, groupage and palletised freight.
- Support the commercial team with transport pricing for customer quotations and tenders.
- Ensure competitive buying rates support business growth and healthy profit margins.
- Proven experience in UK domestic haulage procurement, transport buying or freight forwarding.
- Excellent knowledge of UK haulage buying rates and market conditions.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience securing competitive carrier pricing.
- Established relationships with UK hauliers would be a significant advantage.
- Commercially focused, analytical and confident working with pricing and cost data.
- Ability to identify savings while maintaining service quality.
