We are currently supporting a leading APAC financial institution in hiring the first investment hire for its newly established London office.
Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role based in London. The Fund Analyst will play a key role in manager research and selection across traditional and alternative strategies, acting as a bridge between the London market and the investment team in Asia.
You will be responsible for:
- Identifying, assessing and monitoring external fund managers across multiple asset classes, including hedge funds, private equity / private credit and mutual funds.
- Conducting both qualitative and quantitative due diligence on fund managers, covering investment process, performance, risk, team and operational robustness.
- Building and maintaining relationships with asset managers and other key market participants in the UK and Europe.
- Preparing clear, concise investment memos and reports to support internal investment committees and senior stakeholders.
- Contributing to the refinement of internal manager research frameworks, scoring models and reporting tools, with an eye on automation and data-driven decision-making.
- Providing ongoing market insights and manager views to support portfolio construction and product development.
- Supporting certain office-related and coordination tasks in the early stage of the build-out.
Qualifications
- Solid experience in investments / manager research / multi-asset or OCIO / fund selection, ideally with exposure to hedge funds, private equity / private credit and/or multi-manager structures.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex performance, risk and portfolio data and translate insights into clear recommendations.
- Good understanding of global markets, fund structures and relevant regulatory environments.
- Track record of interacting with external managers and building professional relationships in the asset management industry.
- Bachelor's degree or above in Finance, Economics, Business, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field.
- Professional qualifications such as CFA / CAIA are highly regarded.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; fluency in Mandarin and English is strongly preferred due to frequent interaction with stakeholders in Asia.
- Self-driven, able to work independently with limited on-the-ground supervision, comfortable operating in a build-out / entrepreneurial environment.
- Existing right to work and reside in the UK (e.g. ILR / settled status or equivalent).
