This is an exciting opportunity to join our friendly, dynamic and supportive team in the Cardiac Investigation Department, Heart and Lung Centre in Wolverhampton. The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust is one of the largest NHS trusts in the West Midlands providing primary, acute and community services. Clinical and Technical Responsibilities

  • Independently perform, analyse, and report on a full range of non‑invasive tests, including:
  • Resting 12‑lead electrocardiograms (ECGs).
  • Ambulatory ECG monitoring (Holter) and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, including fitting, analysis, and reporting.
  • Physiologist‑led exercise tolerance testing (ETT), taking the lead role in the test, monitoring for signs of distress, and terminating the procedure if necessary, in accordance with departmental and national guidelines.
  • Work as a key member of the multidisciplinary team in the cardiac catheter lab.
  • Independently acquire, analyse, and report on haemodynamic data during diagnostic and interventional procedures (e.g., coronary angiography, percutaneous coronary intervention PCI).
  • Set up and monitor complex support equipment, such as Intra‑Aortic Balloon Pumps (IABPs).
  • Assist with other invasive procedures, such as electrophysiology (EP) studies or structural heart interventions (e.g., TAVI, PFO/ASD closure), as required.
  • Contribute to the PCI on‑call rota.
  • Exposure to Cardiac Rhythm Management, with further interest in training in this area.
