We need a Receptionist / Ward Clerk to support Perinatal Services at New Cross Hospital, covering all Maternity and Neonatal units.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Clerical, reception and appointment duties within Women and Neonatal services.
  • Administering clinic preparation, appointments, updating PAS demographics for all ward transactions.
  • Filing, appointment booking, CNC, scanning and maintaining record security.
  • Working in outpatient and ward reception areas, flexibly covering for colleagues.
  • Using IT systems such as Patient Administration System (Careflow) to register, admit, transfer, discharge patients and manage patient data.
  • Adhering to safeguarding processes and reporting as required.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and security of case notes.
  • Processing all incoming and outgoing mail, filing notes, results and correspondence.
  • Scanning skinny files and tracking case notes in and out of assigned areas.
  • Participating in mandatory training, staff appraisal, and induction of new staff.
  • Performing any tasks relevant to the Ward Clerk/Receptionist role as assigned.

Essential skills and attributes:

  • Excellent communication skills, face‑to‑face and telephone.
  • Proficient with keyboard input and basic IT systems.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with maturity.
  • Strong initiative, organisation, and decision‑making within defined limits.
  • Flexibility to cover across various locations within Perinatal Services.
