An exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated pharmacy technician to join our friendly and dynamic team to provide high‑quality aseptic services. The role is part of an expanding team focused on delivering excellent, patient‑focused service in a new pharmacy aseptic, clinical trials and radiopharmacy facility expected to be in operation by the end of 2026. The unit’s prime function is the preparation of cytotoxic, monoclonal antibodies and clinical trial products under Good Manufacturing Practice and national standards. Staff receive comprehensive training, including quality assurance, and are encouraged to develop and future‑proof facilities to meet growing service needs.
Responsibilities:
- Dispense and issue medicines, including aseptic manipulation and compounding of parenteral nutrition for adults and neonates.
- Reconstitute cytotoxic chemotherapy products, monoclonal antibodies, and other ad‑hoc aseptic dispensing.
- Perform stock control and conduct final accuracy checks of dispensed medicines.
- Supervise and coordinate the work of pharmacy technicians, assistant technical officers, students and support staff.
- Train staff under the direction of senior and chief technicians, working independently where appropriate.
- Support unit operations including weekend service, early starts, late nights and bank holidays.
- Maintain overall operational accountability with the chief technician, and daily accountability with the responsible senior technician.
Qualifications:
- Experienced, qualified pharmacy technician.
- Post‑qualification experience in aseptic production, preferably within a secondary care setting.
- Demonstrated ability to handle a broad range of duties in an aseptic suite.
- Experience supervising and training junior staff.
- Strong commitment to good manufacturing practice and quality assurance.
- Candidate is willing to work flexible hours, including weekends and bank holidays.
