Build AI That Actually Ships

At The Big Phone Store, we're applying modern AI to a fast‑moving, real‑world industry; refurbished technology. That means production systems, not prototypes. Your work will span AI agents, automation pipelines, vision AI, sentiment analysis, and data‑driven decision making, all built on a modern Python‑first stack. We're a small, established team which means less bureaucracy, real ownership, and the kind of variety that keeps the work interesting. If you're the type of engineer who figures things out independently and takes pride in shipping solutions that work, you'll fit right in.

What You'll Be Working On

  • Building and deploying AI agents and workflows using LangChain and CrewAI
  • Developing and maintaining FastAPI services that power chatbots, data processing, and AI‑driven features
  • Applying vision AI and models for real‑world classification and processing tasks
  • Implementing sentiment analysis and other NLP‑driven solutions
  • Designing logic‑based automation alongside AI‑driven pipelines
  • Collaborating with teams across the business to identify where AI can drive genuine value
  • Monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuously improving deployed systems

What We’re Looking For

We care more about what you can do than how long you’ve been doing it. You should be able to demonstrate:

  • Solid Python skills, this is our primary language across the board
  • Hands‑on experience with LangChain, CrewAI, or similar agent frameworks
  • FastAPI or equivalent experience building and maintaining API services
  • Comfort working with AI APIs and third‑party AI services
  • The ability to work independently, you won’t need hand‑holding, and you’ll know when to ask for help
  • Clear communication with both technical teammates and non‑technical stakeholders
  • Experience with vision AI, MLOps, or cloud platforms is a bonus but not essential.

What We Offer

  • Up to £40,000 depending on experience
  • Hybrid working — 3 days in Wolverhampton, 2 days remote
  • Paid birthday off, separate from annual leave after year 2
  • Up to 28 days holiday, plus an additional day per year from your second year
  • Sick pay & comprehensive pension scheme
  • Staff discounts on refurbished tech
  • Free on‑site parking
  • Regular socials and team events
  • Bonus structure & clear progression pathways
