Overview: A vacancy at The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust for a Consultant Histopathologist in the BCPS Cellular Pathology Department. The role involves supporting 59 MDTs across the region with an annual workload of 100,000 histology requests and 154,000 histology specimens, as well as approximately 400,000 gynae cytology screening samples and 4,000 non-gynae cytology samples.
The current clinical establishment comprises 31 Consultant Histopathologists, 4 locum consultants, one Consultant Healthcare Scientist, one Specialty Doctor and 10 Histopathology Trainees.

Key Responsibilities:
- Active participation in ongoing research activities within the department.

- Provide cover for colleagues during periods of leave.
- Take part in medical audit and research as appropriate.
- Ensure the requirements of clinical governance are met.
- Ensure that there are adequate arrangements for hospital staff involved in the care of patients.
Development: The successful candidate will be encouraged to develop specialist interests in two or more areas of histopathology and will be treated as equivalents to core and specialist trainees in Histopathology.
