Principal Infrastructure Engineer - Operations

Responsibilities

• Provide effective support, maintenance and development to NWAS Server and Cloud Infrastructure both in and out of office hours.
• Act as the senior authority and Subject Matter Expert for the Trust’s Active Directory, Server, and Cloud architecture, ensuring proper maintenance and management of existing and future developments.
• Serve as the ultimate escalation point for all Trust Server, Cloud and Active Directory issues, offering advice and guidance to ICT Senior Management and the wider engineering team.
• Work with industry leaders and experts to maintain systems that meet the changing digital landscape, assess business requirements, recommend solutions, and future‑proof design.
• Participate in senior meetings and help shape Trust policy.
• Ensure designs incorporate resilience, reliability, sustainability, and that comprehensive system design and configuration documentation is produced, maintained and controlled.
• Travel to main IT site (full driving licence required); own vehicle travel may be needed across the North West and occasionally nationally.
• Participate in the Trust’s On‑Call Rota (1 day per week after a suitable period).

Qualifications & Requirements

• Minimum 10 years of experience maintaining, supporting and deploying similar server and cloud estates.
• Strong technical knowledge of Active Directory, Server and Cloud environments.
• Demonstrated ability to drive continual improvement and system design best practices.
• Excellent communication and advisory skills with senior management.
• Valid full driving licence and ability to travel as required.
