The predicted salary is between 13.24 - 13.24 £ per hour.

Salary £5,608 – £5,773 (£12.86 – £13.24 per hour); Full‑time equivalent £24,819 – £25,548 (CLF Grade Aii) based on 37 hours per week, all year round. Contract and Hours Permanent. 10 hours per week, Monday‑Friday 3:30 pm – 5:30 pm. Provisional start date: September 2026. The role may be reduced or shared between two people if preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily activities and routines to ensure a safe and stimulating environment for children.
  • Communicate effectively with children, encouraging participation in play and learning activities.
  • Supervise children during playtime, ensuring safety and well‑being at all times.
  • Plan and implement engaging activities that promote physical, social, and emotional development.
  • Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues to create a supportive community.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the play area, ensuring all equipment is safe and suitable for use.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to support the overall objectives of the nursery.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Understanding of the varied needs of children and families.
  • First Aid qualification or willingness to undertake training.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including empathy and active listening.
  • Ability to manage inappropriate behaviour calmly and non‑judgementally, following academy guidance.
  • Patience, calmness, and ability to work under pressure.
  • Relevant experience working with young children in a primary or nursery setting.

About the School

Airfield Primary Academy is a new primary school opening in September 2026 on the former Weston Airfield site in Haywood Village, Weston‑Super‑Mare. It will start with 30 Reception pupils and grow to up to 630 pupils. The site will include a 102‑place nursery with all‑year‑round provision for children aged 2–4.
