Great opportunity to work as a Production and Hygiene Operative for our client's major pork abattoir and processing site. Staffline is recruiting Production and Hygiene Operatives in Westerleigh, Bristol. The rate of pay is £13.09 - £14.98 per hour, depending on the choice of department/shift. Overtime is available and is paid at £18.33- £20.97 per hour, depending on the choice of department/shift. This is a full-time role working fixed shifts, Monday to Friday, and the hours of work are:
- 06:00am to 14:30pm
- 06:30am to 17:00pm
- 06:45am to 16:30pm
- 09:00pm to 17:30pm
- 14:30pm to 23:00pm
- 17:00pm to 01:30am
- 20:00pm to 04:30am
Please note that this site is not accessible by public transport, so you would need to have/arrange your own transport.
Your Time at Work
General hygiene or cleaning responsibilities include:
- Slaughter team members empty waste bins into chutes, maintain area cleanliness by picking up waste from the floor, and wash down the area with water during breaks.
- Butchery team members mainly remove floor waste using squeegees and shovels throughout the area and remove general waste bags.
- Category 2 and 3 chute waste duties involve removal of dolavs into the skip using a pump truck.
- Chillers are maintained to ensure hygienic conditions of floors and walls.
- External duties include litter picking around the site and cleaning of the smoking shelter.
- Gambrel cleaning involves hand wiping of hooks in a stationary position.
Production operative responsibilities include:
- Working in a fast-paced, chilled food environment, focusing on butchery or packing roles.
- Operating machinery (including knife/bladed tools), preparing carcasses, ensuring high-quality, food-safe products, and adhering to health and safety standards.
- The job holder has a responsibility to maintain a culture of awareness of, and commitment to the highest standards of quality & food safety and as such they must lead by example and report any risks / concerns to Technical immediately.
