About the Role

The People Management Trainer is responsible for building strong people‑management capability throughout the company. The role equips managers with the skills and confidence to effectively manage performance, conduct disciplinary procedures, and handle employee relations issues, including absence management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a structured people‑management training framework aligned with the company values and operational needs.
  • Identify capability gaps in line management throughout the company.
  • Embed consistent management behaviour, competencies and standards by aligning training with policies and procedures.
  • Design and deliver training on managing underperformance, improvement plans and absence management.
  • Provide Absence Management training.
  • Facilitate employee‑relations training with an emphasis on fairness and legal compliance, including investigations, disciplinary action and grievance management.
  • Coach managers on handling sensitive employee‑relations cases, equipping supervisors and site managers with tools for difficult conversations, constructive feedback and conflict resolution.
  • Deliver practical, scenario‑based training that is relevant to construction.
  • Build strong working relationships with managers across the company.
  • Provide visible HR support across multiple sites, including travel and working away from home when required.
  • Act as a trusted operational advisor, balancing business needs with people risk.
  • Build and maintain excellent stakeholder relationships with colleagues and clients.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Essential CIPD qualification (Level 5).
  • Management or coaching qualification.
  • Proven experience in a senior HR operational role.
  • Strong people‑management experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of UK employment law and employee relations.
  • Experience operating in a multi‑site or operational environment.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence and challenge appropriately.
  • Driving licence.

Desired Skills

  • Previous experience in a similar role within construction or civil engineering.
