Work within a multidisciplinary Cardiac Intervention Suite or Catheter Lab, performing diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures (e.g., angiography, device implantation, cardioversion and loop recorders). An expectation to support the cardiology department if required.
Prepare patients for procedures, including pre-assessment, cannulation, sedation, and vital signs monitoring.
Serve as scrub or circulating nurse during interventions such as angioplasty, pacing devices, cardioversion and loop recorders.
Provide post-procedure recovery care, monitor for complications, and manage sedation and pain relief.
Maintain aseptic technique, including safety checks of equipment, swabs, and consumables.
Administration & CoordinationEnsure accurate patient identification and documentation per WHO/LocSSIPs protocols.
Manage the catheter labβs patient flow, co-ordinate elective and emergency scheduling.
Maintain inventories, carry out routine equipment checks, and ensure lab readiness.
Training & LeadershipSupervise and mentor junior nurses, healthcare assistants, students, and support staff.
Contribute to in-house training programs and support professional development.
Quality & SafetyUphold infection control, radiation safety, and Trust policies.
Participate in clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives.
Professional StandardsPractice in accordance with NMC Code and maintain HCPC/NMC registration, revalidation, and PREP requirements.
To provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures within the Cardiac Intervention Suite. The post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout their journey.
