We have an exciting opportunity for clinical support workers vacancies on Ward 29 Medical Short Stay Ward. We are currently looking for a permanent Clinical Support Worker who is enthusiastic and motivated to join the team of General Medical/Elderly Care Ward. We are a friendly team, who welcome applicants that enjoy care of the patients, have a good sense of humor and strive for excellence. We are also proud of ourselves in giving excellent care and making the patient the Centre of everything we do.

We are a close team, who support each other professionally and personally. If successful, you will be made to feel welcome as a friend to the team and hospital. You must be caring, compassionate, reliable and have a genuine interest to work with elderly care group patients and across the medicine and long term team. You will also have the opportunity to grow professionally and expand your skills.

A flexible approach to the hours of work is required; this includes long days (07:00-19:30) and night shifts (19:00-07:30), including weekends and bank holidays. Please note if this role receives a high number of applications, it is subject to closing early.

Clinical Support Worker Duties:

  • Assisting patients with activities of daily living, in accordance with the care plan.
  • Delivery of hygiene care, nutrition and hydration, continence care, pressure area care, mobility and rehabilitation.
  • Therapeutically engaging with patients and their families, some of which will have dementia.
  • Being part of the wider MDT and making a daily contribution to the care patients receive.
  • Assist in taking and recording patient’s observations and report changes to patient’s health status to trained nurse for action.
  • Support registered nursing staff with clinical treatments and investigations as appropriate, to the level of knowledge and skill.
  • This may include the escort of patients to other departments within the hospital and on occasion to other departments and specialist units off site.

Walsall Manor Hospital houses the full range of district general hospital services. The £170 million development was completed in 2010 and we are continually upgrading. Construction of the new integrated critical care unit was completed in 2018, extension of a Neonatal Unit and brand new, state of the art Emergency Department is in the process of being completed.
