We are seeking to recruit a number of Band 3 Clinical Support Workers to join our Nurse Team in Walsall Healthcare’s Emergency Department and have opportunities for either those with experience in the Emergency Department setting or those that are willing to expand their portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • The applicant, on a daily basis will use their clinical skills, knowledge and judgement to lead a workforce across the Emergency Department to provide safe, responsive and effective care to patients.
  • The post holder will predominantly support in higher acuity areas of the Emergency Department; such as resus, mental health and triage, delivering high quality standards of care.
  • New posts are being invested in with the Practice Development roles expanding to support the delivery of our education programme for both new and substantive staff.
  • Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust provides learning environments including courses to increase clinical skills and knowledge, as well as in-house opportunities.
  • We offer post registration courses via Wolverhampton University in Emergency care of the child and mentorship.
  • We aim to recruit new Nurses keen to work within a Multi-Disciplinary Team to aid Audits and service developments, and in a leadership role will be responsible for a team of Nurses to ensure they are up to date with Appraisal and Training and have provided management support in ED.
  • For newly qualified staff, there will be opportunities to develop nursing skills with a focus on Emergency Care.

Qualifications and Development

  • Emergency Department experience with Level 3 NVQ in Healthcare is essential.
  • Extensive induction, orientation and personalised learning plan provided throughout time in ED.
  • Opportunities for ongoing professional development and progression within Emergency Care.

About the Department

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is an integrated Trust and the only provider of NHS acute care in Walsall, serving a population of 284,300. It provides inpatient and outpatient services at the Manor Hospital as well as a wide range of services in the community. Walsall Manor houses the full range of district general hospital services under one roof. The £170 million development was completed in 2010, and ongoing upgrades ensure the Trust now has state-of-the-art facilities, including a Critical Care Unit, Neonatal Unit, Obstetric Theatre, and Integrated Assessment Unit. A new Urgent and Emergency Care Centre, opened in March 2023, provides additional clinical space.

We positively encourage department link nurses and are developing a wide range of departmental champions to promote specialist support within the team. We recruit Nurses to work within a Multi-Disciplinary Team to aid Audits and service developments, with leadership responsibilities including ensuring appraisal and training, and providing management support in ED.
