An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a friendly team, working within the department of Emergency medicine/Acute care medicine. We are looking for a dynamic individual to join our busy team. The successful candidate will provide efficient, effective, and comprehensive administrative support for the department of Emergency medicine/Acute care medicine.

If you have excellent interpersonal skills, are a good communicator, and have a strong desire to provide administrative support, please note that we may close this vacancy early if we receive high numbers of applications.

Duties will include:

  • Updating patient management systems
  • Answering calls and greeting patients/relatives
  • Preparing notes and supporting the nursing team with all aspects of ward administration such as record keeping, data entry, filing, and scanning
  • Communicating effectively with all staff members and patients
  • Covering 365 days over a 24-hour period on a rotational shift pattern

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is an integrated Trust and the only provider of NHS acute care in Walsall, serving a population of 284,300. It provides inpatient and outpatient services at the Manor Hospital as well as a wide range of services in the community.

Duties will also include:

  • Ensuring good communication between the administration team and the clinical team so that the department runs smoothly
  • Liaising with patients, relatives, carers, outside agencies, and colleagues within a multidisciplinary team via telephone and face-to-face communication
  • Ensuring that all patients are received and directed to the appropriate waiting area or ward area in a courteous, professional, and timely manner
  • Keeping patients' demographic details up to date in the medical records and on the Patient Administration System
  • Using the Patient Administration System to book patients onto the system and to make follow-up outpatient appointments as required
