An exciting new Urban Driver Apprentice - 7.5t Driver opportunity at DX. DX is a market leading provider of a wide range of delivery services, including parcel freight, secure, courier and logistics services. The Urban Driver Apprenticeship is a 15-month programme where apprentices will learn all aspects of professional driving and gain their Category C1 (7.5t) Licence, with a view to moving to a full-time 7.5t Driver position within DX upon completion of the apprenticeship.

Responsibilities

  • Represent DX in a professional manner at all times.
  • Carry out all tasks required as part of the apprenticeship training.
  • Drive vehicles in a safe and legal manner ensuring compliance with all legal and company requirements at all times.
  • Perform all daily checks, report defects immediately and complete correct paperwork.
  • Ensure all products are scanned using DX scanning equipment.
  • Ensure all deliveries are loaded safely prior to leaving the depot.
  • Observe DX procedures and policies at all times.
  • Manage routing to ensure premium and timed deliveries are achieved.
  • Ensure the correct equipment and PPE are in good order and used at all times.
  • Report all delivery and on-road issues to the traffic office immediately.
  • Deliver packages in excellent condition to customers every time.
  • Deal with any customer issues politely and effectively.
  • Ensure collections are made in line with given instructions and times.
  • Perform non-driving duties relevant to the role, including office work, drivers' mate and warehousing during training.

Qualifications

  • Apprentices must be 18 or over, have a minimum of 12 months UK driving experience, and hold a Category B licence.
  • Apprentices will also obtain CPC licences as part of the apprenticeship programme, which is a legal requirement to drive LGV vehicles.

  • If your application is being considered, you must speak to our partner, GTG, who delivers the training.
  • GTG will ask you to complete checks, submit information and complete an English and Numeracy assessment.
  • If successful at this stage, you will then be called forward for an interview.
