A LITTLE BIT ABOUT MYSELF

I am a fifty‑three‑year‑old architect, who in the past ten years, have been suffering with multiple sclerosis. I live in Barry. My mobility has been affected, but I still manage most tasks myself. Constant fatigue and muscle weakness is my enemy. I would like to employ someone for the long‑term. I have an exceptionally intelligent miniature poodle, called Milo, he is more a small child than just a dog, so I am looking for someone who doesn’t mind dogs. He is very friendly. Unfortunately, he has been used to having someone around all of the time and gets overly anxious when left alone.

Purpose of the Job

Your role is to support me to remain independent within my own home. My independence is extremely important to me.

Hours of Work

4 - 8 hours per week. I would prefer 2 PAs 4 hours each, so your application will mean you are willing to work a minimum of 4 hours per week. Also, you’d be able to pick up additional hours when the other PA is off.

Rates of Pay

£14.50 per hour + 40p mileage when you use your car.

Tasks Will Include

  • Drive myself and Milo around to various events and appointments
  • Laundry, wash, dry and put away properly in built-in wardrobes
  • Clean tidy kitchen and shower room (detergent)

  • Organise, and put rubbish out, separating food, cardboard, cans, plastic and glass
  • Change the bed
  • Vacuum all floors
  • Clean hard‑floors with disinfectant
  • Pop out to get some shopping, bread, milk etc.
  • Take me shopping, from time to time
  • Take me to and back from various club activities and take care of Milo while I attend
  • Dog sit, while I get a haircut
  • Help me declutter the house
  • Take me to storage unit
  • PA able to cook
  • Bring some firewood in and make a fire

  • Proactive in situations and be able to problem-solve on your own initiative
  • Will know how to manage a home and keep on top of what’s required to keep it clean

  • Must be flexible, understanding that shifts, days and times may change with short notice
  • Respectful towards my need for independence
  • A car owner/driver who is willing to use car for work purposes/take me on outing
