Purpose of the Job: Support at home to remain living independently. The role is part of a team of 3 Personal Assistants. Hours are flexible and can be swapped when required. Holiday and sickness cover is provided. Additional support is needed for help with getting up, lunch visits, food preparation, and evening assistance to get to bed. No personal hygiene requirements at this stage but a carer is required to be on site when the service user is in the bathroom.

Hours of Work: As a casual PA, the role covers existing PA cover illness and annual leave. Minimum of 10 hours per week. Schedule: Thursday, Friday, Sunday evenings and every other Saturday evenings (7:00 pm–9:00 pm) and lunchtime visits 1:00 pm–2:00 pm (when Daughter on respite).

Rates of Pay: £14.00 per hour.

Tasks Involved:

  • Some personal care – eye cleaning
  • Dressing, undressing
  • Fall limitation – stair lift use; being there for on and off
  • Meals and preparation
  • Lifts from The Waverley
  • Very occasional shopping (Daughter does most of it)
  • Hospital appointments – rare
  • Household duties – dishes, rubbish and hoovering
  • Any other reasonable task
  • Car driver / access to a car to transport employer
  • Clean driving licence

About the Job: Though a part‑time job, a National Insurance number is required. A trial period will be necessary initially. The wage will be paid every four weeks along with appropriate holiday pay. The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) check; the cost of this check will be met by the employer. The relevant checks will be carried out to ensure any applicant has the right to work in the UK.
