Year 1 SEN Teaching Assistant - Full‑Time

Location: Urmston

Start Date: September

Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday

Teaching Personnel is partnering with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Urmston to support Year 1 pupils with Special Educational Needs. The role involves delivering tailored one‑to‑one and small group support for learners within a nurturing, child‑centred ethos.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver targeted SEN support through one‑to‑one and small group interventions
  • Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering personalised learning activities
  • Support the implementation and review of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external specialists to support pupil progress
  • Monitor and adapt support strategies based on individual pupil development

The Ideal Candidate

  • Hold GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • Have prior experience supporting children with SEN
  • Show patience, empathy, and adaptability
  • Communicate confidently and work effectively as part of a team
  • Commit to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
  • Hold or be willing to obtain a Level 2 Safeguarding certificate
