The Role: The team work across a broad range of areas linked to statutory and non-statutory duties which protect and improve the health, wellbeing and safety of our residents. We utilise data and evidence to help guide decisions on investment and targeting of particular programmes of work. As part of this role you will work towards completing a Level 6 Data Scientist Apprenticeship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead or support data analysis, surveys and reports presenting complex findings to diverse audiences
  • Support the further development of the use of statistical methods within team and with wider stakeholders, maintaining links to external partners to keep abreast of best practice
  • Management of data pipelines from across the local authority and partners
  • Deep-dive analysis on priority areas for the local authority and partners, such as child development, domestic abuse
  • Development of reporting dashboards to support service monitoring such as Environmental Health and Trading Standards, delivery of NHS Health Checks

About You:

  • You will be able to demonstrate your ability to understand and interpret statistics and ability to work with data, as well as an understanding of areas you are keen to develop through the apprenticeship
  • You will be self-motivated and able to operate well within a team and to balance organisational workload whilst studying and completing assignments for your apprenticeship
  • Demonstrate experience of working to a proficient level with data management/presentation software, such as Excel, Access or PowerBI
  • Ability to understand and communicate principles of data science to others and support with developing knowledge across the organisation
