Overview

Sessional Registration Assistant – Trafford Register Office, Sale Town Hall, Sale Waterside, Sale, M33 7ZF.

Salary range Band 2 3 £25,185 - £28,142 (£2,946 - £3,292 actual salary for 220 annualised hours). Trafford council is a Living Wage Employer. Working hours are 220 annualised hours to support service demand, with at least 50% to be worked at weekends or bank holidays (approximately 4.25 hours per week). We will offer flexibility where possible; if you are interested in a role, please speak to the recruiting manager about what flexibility they might consider.

Contract type: Permanent.

Responsibilities

  • Delivery of registrations and ceremonies, particularly at weekends to assist with service demand and provide maximum choice for service users.
  • Support the registration service, which is busy and can be demanding and emotional, with a commitment to the service.
  • Work in an office-based environment with face-to-face customer engagement as a legal requirement of the role.
  • Be part of a small, friendly, and hard-working team that prioritises excellent customer service.

You will be involved in the delivery of both registrations and ceremonies, including weekends, to meet service demand. You will need to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be well experienced in administration and IT, with attention to detail as an essential quality. Your style and approach should reflect our values and behaviours, and you should be committed to continual learning and improvement, working together and taking ownership of your actions. You must be able to work flexibly, including at short notice and at weekends.

  • An enhanced DBS check with children/adults barred list check will be required.
  • Flexibility to work over 7 days will be required, including outside core office hours (Monday to Friday 9.00 am to 4.00 pm).
  • You will be on a rota and an unsocial hours allowance will be paid.
  • Attendance at various venues across the borough to register and conduct marriages and civil partnerships is required; you will therefore need to have use of a vehicle and be prepared to drive in this role.
  • The recruitment process will include a writing, spelling and IT test as well as an interview.
