We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established nursing home provider for an experienced and dedicated Chef to join their team in Partington, Greater Manchester. As a Chef, you will be responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering nutritious meals for residents within a nursing home setting, ensuring all dietary needs, including specialist and medical diets, are met. You will ensure food is freshly prepared, well-presented, and delivered within budget, while maintaining the highest standards of food hygiene, health, and safety at all times. You will work closely with the Home Manager and care team to support residents’ health and wellbeing through high-quality nutrition.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning and preparing daily menus to meet residents’ nutritional, medical, and dietary requirements
- Preparing fresh, nutritious, and well-presented meals within budget
- Managing food stock levels and ordering supplies as required
- Maintaining accurate records of food orders and inventory
- Ensuring all food is stored, prepared, and served safely and hygienically
- Working in line with strict food hygiene and infection control standards
- Keeping the kitchen clean, safe, and fully compliant with regulations
- Liaising with care staff regarding residents’ dietary needs and preferences
- Building positive relationships with residents and responding to feedback
About You
- Proven experience as a Chef, ideally within a nursing home, healthcare, or care setting
- Strong understanding of specialist diets and nutritional requirements
- Excellent cooking skills and knowledge of cooking techniques
- Strong awareness of food hygiene, health & safety, and infection control
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to manage time effectively and work under pressure
- Experience supervising kitchen staff is desirable
- Flexibility to work weekends and bank holidays where required
Qualifications
- Food Hygiene Level 2 (or willingness to work towards Intermediate Food Hygiene)
- First Aid qualification
- NVQ Level 2/3 in Food Preparation or Catering (desirable)

Working Hours
