First For Education are a specialist education Recruitment Business that are working with Special Schools across Telford & Shropshire who are regularly looking for new Teaching Assistants to join them for short term, long term and permanent assignments. We work with Schools that cater to pupils with a wide range of needs, from Autism to Severe and Complex Special Needs. Working with Special Needs pupils is a challenging but hugely rewarding career, requiring empathy, patience and understanding. These roles are more about the person than the qualifications! Each School has its own characters and personalities creating unique learning environments where you can make a difference. If you are passionate about supporting young people achieve to the best of their ability then this could be the role you have been looking for!
Responsibilities
- Supporting pupils one‑on‑one or in small groups, helping them to engage with learning
- Building positive relationships with students, offering encouragement and guidance
- Assisting teachers in delivering tailored lessons that inspire and challenge pupils
- Helping pupils develop confidence, resilience, and key life skills
- Help create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment
Skills & Qualifications
- A patient, understanding, and resilient individual with empathy and compassion for supporting young people in specific Special Needs settings
- Experience working with challenging behaviour or SEN (desirable, but not essential)
- A team player who can work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and external agencies
- GCSE in Maths and English or equivalent, Level 2 or Level 3 TA Qualifications are welcomed but not required!
