We are currently recruiting for a Sports Coach / SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming KS2 SEN setting in Swinton. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for supporting children with additional needs and using sport, movement and engagement activities to help pupils thrive in the classroom. The school supports children with a range of complex needs, with many pupils being non-verbal.
The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to provide both classroom and practical support, helping pupils access learning and develop their communication, social and emotional skills. The role will involve:
- Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis
- Delivering engaging sports and movement-based activities
- Encouraging positive behaviour and participation
- Assisting with classroom learning and daily routines
- Working alongside teachers, therapists and support staff
- Building strong, positive relationships with pupils
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience working with children or young people
- A background in sports coaching, youth work, education or care
- A patient, resilient and proactive approach
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Experience supporting children with SEN (desirable but not essential)
