About this job

This role is to support a 15‑year‑old autistic girl who has recently returned home after a long hospital stay for an eating disorder. The candidate should be a woman, have a driving licence, own a vehicle, and be able to work flexible hours. The job involves mental health support, life enrichment, housekeeping, respite for family carers, and transportation, among other duties.

Duties

  • Provide companionship and life enrichment at home and in the local area
  • Support mental health and goal setting
  • Assist with eating and drinking, including promoting self‑care without direct engagement
  • Carry out household tasks such as cleaning, cooking, shopping, and laundry
  • Transport the girl to appointments, lessons, and extracurricular activities (e.g., piano, singing, dance)
  • Engage in therapeutic activities such as art, craft, cookery, and fun games
  • Support online education and help with homework or remote learning tools
  • Provide respite care to family carers, including meal preparation if required
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support decision‑making around the girl’s care
  • Offer emotional and therapeutic support in a safe, trusting environment
  • Maintain accurate administrative records related to care activities
