We’re problem solvers with over 140 years of combined experience in engineering and infrastructure. This role will be within our water and wastewater capital project delivery team. Our teams deliver large‑scale capital programmes aimed at keeping water infrastructure resilient for the long‑term while protecting the environment.
What you will be doing
As a Senior Project Manager, you will lead the delivery of complex or concurrent projects, ensuring outcomes meet safety, quality, commercial and regulatory standards. You will provide strategic leadership across engineering, planning, SHEQ, commercial and site operations, applying consistent governance, programme, cost and risk controls. Acting as the senior escalation point, you will resolve complex technical and contractual challenges, maintain strong stakeholder relationships and drive a culture of safe, accountable and continuously improving performance. You will ensure robust governance, compliance and quality assurance through strong controls over risk, change and documentation, alongside rigorous HSE leadership. Lead integrated planning, aligning schedules, resources and delivery strategies to meet milestones while mitigating risks and maintaining critical path progress. Full accountability for financial performance, including forecasting, cost control and commercial reporting, while managing supply‑chain delivery, variations and value engineering to achieve predictable outcomes. You will champion clear stakeholder communication, acting as the primary contact for senior issues and enabling informed decision‑making. You will develop the team's capability through coaching and structured oversight, fostering a high‑performance environment. Proactive risk management, continuous improvement and effective problem‑solving underpin delivery success, ensuring balanced decisions that meet client expectations, contractual commitments and organisational standards.
What you’ll bring
- Experience delivering large, complex or multidisciplinary projects, managing scope, cost, programme and quality.
- Strong leadership of multidisciplinary teams across engineering, construction, commercial, planning and SHEQ.
- Demonstrable contract and commercial management experience (e.g., NEC, JCT), including variations and early warnings.
- Solid financial and programme management capability, including forecasting, cost control and critical path management.
- Effective risk identification and mitigation, ensuring delivery remains on time, within budget and to required standards.
- Excellent stakeholder and client management, with the ability to influence and communicate at senior levels.
- Proven ability to lead, guide and develop project delivery teams.
- Strong understanding of HSE requirements and ability to promote safe working practices.
- Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., Primavera, MS Project).
- Relevant degree or equivalent experience, plus required certifications (CSCS, SMSTS, IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH General Certificate).
