We are seeking a Medical Secretary to join the Women and Children's Administrative team. The role involves providing a full secretarial and administrative support service to the Division, clinical staff, and Safeguarding team. The successful candidate will facilitate the smooth running of the department by acting as the main point of communication with patients, families, GP’s and other health care staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Prioritise workload according to service requirements and urgency; work independently and refer to the appropriate manager as required.
  • Use Microsoft Office IT packages and databases to provide efficient, high‑quality admin services including audio typing.
  • Type correspondence relating to other areas of the Consultants’ work.
  • Complete administrative tasks and typing related to Oncology, including organising appointments following MDT.
  • Ensure each patient who has an episode of care in the Department has all relevant details—correspondence, diagnostic investigation reports, etc.—documented and filed appropriately in the notes as soon as practicable upon receipt or despatch.
  • Arrange appointments as necessary.
