Program name: Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician Light Vehicle Standard (Level 3). JLR is the UK’s largest automotive manufacturer, built around two iconic British car brands: Land Rover and Jaguar. We are looking for enthusiastic, hardworking individuals to join our highly successful retail apprenticeship programme and develop a long‑term career as a Service Technician/Mechanic.
Responsibilities:
- Service Technicians/Mechanics service and repair light vehicles such as cars up to 3.5 tonnes.
- Trained in all areas of vehicle mechanics and electronics, from engine and exhaust systems to air conditioning and security features.
- Perform vehicle servicing checks and maintenance according to manufacturers’ guidelines.
- Repair and replace faulty parts and components.
- Advise the Service Receptionists about required repairs.
- Produce time estimates.
- Maintain repair and service records.
Training Provided:
Training is delivered through a combination of virtual classroom remote learning and face‑to‑face block release weeks at the Jaguar Land Rover Academy, Leamington Spa. All training‑related costs, including travel, accommodation and meals, are fully covered. In the workplace, a dedicated mentor supports continued learning and applies the skills gained through the remote sessions and academy training. The apprenticeship includes off‑the‑job training and on‑the‑job learning, supported every step of the way.
Qualifications required:
GCSE grades 9-4 (A/C) in English, Maths and two other subjects. If in Scotland, Scottish National 5 grades A/C or above in English, Maths and either a Science or Technical subject are required. We accept predicted grades and conditional offers can be made based on predicted grades.
Upon successful completion of the three‑year apprenticeship, you will receive:
- Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard in Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician (Light Vehicle)
- Level 3 Award in Automotive Refrigerant Handling (EC842‑2006)
- JLR specific certifications.
