Part Time - 13 hours per week, 3 mornings per week Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday with flexibility to cover the needs of the service.

Orthopaedic & Fracture Clinic – this is a dynamic Outpatients Department committed to providing the best care possible for patients. We are looking for an enthusiastic Health Care Support Worker to join our team on Outpatients.

On completion of the Health Care Certificate and other relevant training you can progress to a Band 3. Teamwork is an essential part of this role as you will work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team. You will be responsible for supporting a wide range of specialty clinics and developing services according to patient demand and need.

Under delegation and supervision of a registered healthcare practitioner, the Health Care Support Worker will independently carry out all delegated duties listed below. All duties must conform to the Band 2/3 skills matrix:

  • Providing fundamental care to patients, including toilet and bathing assistance, help with transfers and mobility, and support with personal hygiene.
  • Assisting with basic nursing tasks such as catheter care (under training).
  • Providing nutrition and hydration support.
  • Maintaining pressure area care.
  • Collecting routine bodily fluid specimens.
  • Supporting moving and handling activities.
  • Documenting care accurately in outcome sheets and nursing documentation.
  • Using basic computer skills.
  • Maintaining environmental cleanliness.
  • Performing tasks in line with risk assessments and care plans.
  • Ensuring clinical rooms are stocked with required clinical forms and patient information sheets.
  • Assisting in the preparation of medical notes to facilitate clinic workflow.
  • Escorting patients to other departments (except theatre).
  • Initiating emergency procedures.
  • Completing incident/accident forms.
  • Promoting person‑centred values and supporting patients’ wellbeing and fulfilment.
  • Under guidance, removing backslab casts, splints, braces and simple dressings.
  • Under guidance, fitting simple splints and braces.

Achieve the desirable requirements in the training and education section of the person specification within an agreed timeframe.
