Consultant in Oncology – Lung & Sarcoma
South West Wales Cancer Centre, Singleton Hospital – Sketty Lane, Swansea SA2 8QL
12 month Fixed Term Contract
This is an exciting opportunity to join the South West Wales Cancer Centre, a highly specialised regional service with advanced radiotherapy, SACT, clinical trials, and strong academic links with Swansea University.
Responsibilities
- Deliver SACT for lung cancer and sarcoma patients
- Participate in lung and sarcoma MDTs (Monday & Wednesday mornings)
- Manage approximately 200 new lung cancer patients and 25 new sarcoma patients per year
- Provide cross‑cover for lung oncology colleagues
- Support junior doctors, CNS teams, pharmacists, and SPRs
- Contribute to service development, governance, and audits
- Participate in the 1:22 non‑resident on‑call rota
- Engage in teaching, training, and research activities
Essential Qualifications
- MBBS or equivalent medical degree
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
- Valid Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check or PVG check, or willingness to undergo one as part of the registration process
- UK Right to Work
- Strong communication and teamworking skills
Desirable Qualifications
- CCT in Oncology (or within 6 months of achieving it)
