About the Role

As a Consultant in Geriatric Medicine, you will play a key role in delivering comprehensive inpatient, outpatient, and community‑based care for older adults, while also contributing to the acute medical take. You will work within a well‑established multidisciplinary team including specialist nurses, therapists, pharmacists, frailty practitioners, and acute physicians.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consultant‑level care for older adults across inpatient wards, frailty units, and outpatient clinics.
  • Participate in the acute medical on‑call rota and support the acute medical take.
  • Lead and participate in specialist clinics (e.g., frailty, falls, memory, bone health).
  • Work collaboratively with MDT colleagues to deliver integrated, patient‑centred care.
  • Support community‑based pathways and virtual ward models.
  • Contribute to service development, pathway redesign, and quality improvement.

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • MBBS or equivalent medical degree.
  • Full GMC registration with licence to practise.
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for Geriatric Medicine and/or General Internal Medicine (or within 6 months of CCT/CESR).
  • Broad experience in geriatric medicine and acute/general internal medicine.
  • Strong communication and teamworking skills.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • DBS check (or willingness to complete).

Desirable

  • Subspecialty interest (frailty, orthogeriatrics, dementia, falls, perioperative medicine, etc.).
  • Experience in service development, audit, or pathway redesign.
  • Experience in teaching, research, or leadership roles.

  • Access to modern facilities across Morriston, Singleton, and Neath Port Talbot Hospitals.
