Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to make a full‑time appointment for a consultant psychiatrist to work in the well‑established Mental Health Liaison Team at Fairfield General Hospital. This substantive appointment will involve a lead role in consolidating recent developments within the service to meet the ‘Core 24’ standards defined by the Department of Health. This rewarding post is in a highly supportive environment with low out‑of‑hours on‑call frequency (1 in 30) and full second‑tier cover with one day off afterwards.
Responsibilities
- Clinical, liaison, educational, managerial and service evaluation roles.
- Clinical duties include assessment and interventions with patients in the acute trust and working with an expanding multidisciplinary liaison mental‑health team.
- The team will promote skill development within the acute trust and support pathway development.
Qualifications
- Applicants must hold a CCT in adult psychiatry or dual in adult and old‑age psychiatry, with experience in an acute hospital setting.
- An endorsement in liaison psychiatry is desirable but not essential.
- Candidates must be on the GMC's specialist register or be eligible for inclusion, or be within six months of an anticipated award of a CCT in general adult psychiatry or dual CCT at the time of interview.
- Section 12 and AC approval are required.
- The post holder must have excellent knowledge of assessing and providing mental‑health interventions for people with comorbid physical health difficulties.
- Part‑time applications are welcome.
