Role Requirements

  • Sales and purchase ledger recording, reporting and reconciliation.
  • Credit control and stock control of publications.
  • Bank, card and cash reconciliation.
  • VAT recording, returns and reconciliation.
  • Salaries, expenses and pension payments, control and reconciliation (the payroll service is currently contracted out).
  • Supplier’s payments, control and reconciliation.
  • Control of petty cash and charge cards, ensuring correct nominal coding for journals.
  • Negotiation and control of annual supplier contracts and insurances.
  • Hire purchase agreements and fixed assets register.
  • Preparation of information for end of year accounting statements.
  • Liaison with external accountant and government organisations.

Knowledge, skills and attributes

  • AAT (Level 2) Foundation Certificate in Accounting.
  • Sage 50 Accounts software, Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook and use of related internet websites.
  • A high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to build good working relationships with customers, suppliers and third parties.
  • Positive, proactive, helpful, friendly, supportive, professional and organised team player who will contribute to team morale.
  • Organised, pragmatic and gets work done.
  • Happy to work autonomously as well as within a team.

We are a small team who get on well and are keen to create a positive working environment. The package offers a competitive salary depending on experience, 22 days annual holiday plus bank holidays, as well as a birthday and a director’s day off. Normal hours are 08.30 – 17.00 Monday to Thursday and 08.30 – 16.00 on a Friday. The successful candidate will report directly to the Sales Manager or Support and Development Manager.
