What You'll Be Doing

  • Prepare the operating theatre: ensure all surgical instruments, equipment, and materials are sterile, complete, and ready for use.
  • Support the surgical team by setting up instrument trays, checking equipment functionality, and maintaining a sterile environment throughout the procedure.
  • Directly assist surgeons during operations by anticipating needs, passing instruments, handling specimens, and ensuring all items are accounted for.
  • Monitor the sterile field and respond quickly to any issues such as equipment problems, breaks in sterility, or changes in the surgical workflow.
  • Maintain accurate surgical counts before, during, and after the procedure to ensure patient safety.
  • Support post‑operative duties, including safe disposal of equipment, instrument decontamination, and documentation.

What You'll Need

  • Essential: HCPC or NMC Registration (RGN/ODP), Minimum of 6 months UK based Operating Theatre experience, Right to work in the UK (No visa sponsorship is available for this role), Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Desirable: Immediate Life Support (ILS) / Paediatric ILS, Mentoring or teaching qualification.
