Your new company are a leader in their field based in Stoke-on-Trent and are looking for an Assistant Financial Controller to join their team on a 12 month fixed term basis, with potential to go permanent.

In this Assistant Financial Controller role, you will manage core financial activities including forecasting, budgeting, month-end accounts, audit support, and maintaining accurate management models and balance sheet reconciliations. You will lead a small finance team and work closely with colleagues across multiple divisions to provide high-quality financial insight that supports strategic decision-making and wider business growth.

  • Work closely with the Financial Controller to produce management information, including detailed financial statements, performance summaries, and variance commentary.
  • Translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights that support decision-making across the business.
  • Serve as a trusted finance partner to leaders within the business unit, offering guidance and commercial support.
  • Coordinate year-end processes, ensuring that reporting, controls, and statutory requirements are fully met.
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly accounts, budget cycles, and forecasting activities, maintaining high standards of accuracy and timeliness.
  • Deliver regular KPI reports and undertake bespoke financial analysis requested by senior management.
  • Prepare and submit cash flow projections and contribute to the annual budgeting process.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, providing required documentation and supporting audit activities.
  • Evaluate financial risks and review proposals for new initiatives, product launches, and capital investments.
  • Lead and mentor a small finance team, conducting performance discussions and supporting professional development.
