Our client, a well-established and growing joinery subcontractor based in Stockport, is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. This is a key role focused on the commercial management of live projects, ensuring strong financial control, accurate reporting, and effective cash flow management. The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams across estimating, design, production, and maintenance to support successful project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Manage the commercial performance of live projects through to final account
- Improve commercial reporting and maintain strong cash flow across projects
- Administer contracts in line with contractual obligations and best practice
- Prepare valuations, cost forecasts, and final accounts accurately and on time
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with the Estimating and Design teams to ensure smooth project handovers
- Liaise with Production and Maintenance teams to support efficient project delivery
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors
Procurement & Work Winning
- Assist with procurement to ensure cost-effective sourcing of materials and services
- Support tendering and work-winning activities, contributing to competitive bids
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally within joinery, fire safety, or construction subcontracting
- Strong knowledge of commercial reporting, cost control, and cash flow management
- Solid understanding of contract administration
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and commercially astute
- Competent with relevant commercial and construction software systems
