Hays Education is recruiting for a Level 1 Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs at a specialist independent school in the Disley area of Cheshire East. This full-time role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting vulnerable learners and looking to grow within a therapeutic and trauma-informed setting. This school provides tailored education and therapeutic support to children and young people with complex needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils aged 7-18 with complex SEMH needs, autism, and associated learning difficulties
- Assist in the classroom and during off-site activities, including outdoor learning and vocational sessions
- Build trusting relationships with pupils and help them regulate behaviour and emotions
- Work closely with teachers, therapists, and care staff to deliver holistic support
What We're Looking For
- Experience working with children or young people in any capacity (education, care, youth work, etc.)
- A genuine interest in SEMH and inclusive education
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential due to location and off-site activities)
- An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply
