Duties of a HGV Technician
- Maintain and repair commercial vehicles to manufacturer and VOSA standards
- Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults
- Conduct scheduled inspections and prepare vehicles for MOT testing
- Ensure vehicle availability aligns with operational schedules
- Promote and uphold health and safety standards within the workshop
- Maintain a clean and organised workspace, audit‑ready at all times
- Support continuous improvement within the Vehicle Maintenance Unit (VMU)
- Flexibly work across various VMU tasks as required
Requirements
- Proven experience in LGV fleet maintenance within a commercial environment
- City & Guilds LGV qualifications or equivalent in LGV Vehicle Crafts
- Strong organisational and teamworking skills
- Proactive approach with a focus on continuous improvement
- An LGV C+E licence is desirable but not essential
