Duties of a HGV Technician

  • Maintain and repair commercial vehicles to manufacturer and VOSA standards
  • Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults
  • Conduct scheduled inspections and prepare vehicles for MOT testing
  • Ensure vehicle availability aligns with operational schedules
  • Promote and uphold health and safety standards within the workshop
  • Maintain a clean and organised workspace, audit‑ready at all times
  • Support continuous improvement within the Vehicle Maintenance Unit (VMU)
  • Flexibly work across various VMU tasks as required

Requirements

  • Proven experience in LGV fleet maintenance within a commercial environment
  • City & Guilds LGV qualifications or equivalent in LGV Vehicle Crafts
  • Strong organisational and teamworking skills
  • Proactive approach with a focus on continuous improvement
  • An LGV C+E licence is desirable but not essential
