Overview
We are looking for 1:1 tutors to support children in care, children with special educational needs and excluded pupils across Stockport.
The tutors will work with students aged between 5‑16 years old, most of whom are disengaged from education and may not be on a school roll.
Responsibilities
- Deliver 1:1 tutoring sessions focusing on English and Maths, typically 3 hours per day, 5 days per week (flexible based on student needs).
- Conduct sessions at the student’s home or a local library.
- Use own lesson plans and adapt teaching to students with behavioural and/or SEN challenges.
- Provide additional hours by taking on multiple cases if desired.
Position type: Part‑time, temporary with potential for long‑term placement. Rate: £25 per hour. Start date: ASAP.
Qualifications
- Relevant tutoring experience, including the ability to create independent lesson plans.
- Experience working with students with SEMH is advantageous.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Enhanced DBS certificate registered with the online update service (or willingness to apply for one).
- Two professional child‑related references covering the last two years.
- Highly motivated, positive attitude and ability to engage and motivate students while keeping lessons enjoyable.
