F. Bamford (Engineering) Ltd, known in the industry as Bamford Doors, specialise in the design, manufacture and installation of custom made, aluminium communal security doors and screens. Due to our continued growth and expansion, we are looking to recruit an assistant installer to our team in Stockport. The role is to work with the experienced team leader as an assistant, in the installation of our products on a regional basis. As part of the team you will be working across customer sites, with occasional overnight stays.
Key Responsibilities
- Work as part of a team alongside an experienced team leader.
- Assist in the loading and unloading of installation vehicles, ensuring all materials required to complete the job are loaded safely, securely and checked against relevant paperwork.
- Removal of existing doors, screens, windows as per company procedures.
- Prepare apertures to accept the new units.
- Fix new units, ensuring correct location, level, including fitting of glazing, GRP panels and letter boxes.
- Seal new units to ensure they are weather‑proof.
- Operate various hand tools and power tools.
- Keep the working environment clean and tidy, including tidying up and clearing away debris and leftover materials.
- Perform various aspects of basic building work.
- Interact with customers, subcontractors, tenants and other trades.
- Follow company procedures and health and safety regulations.
- Work at height, using ladders and scaffold, etc.
- Act as a first aider (training provided).
- Drive company vehicles.

Requirements (Essential)
- Full and clean driving licence.
- Complete an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS).
- Hold or be willing to complete health and safety training, including first aid, working at height, asbestos awareness, face fit, manual handling, etc.
Desirable
- Hold a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card.
- Experience or qualifications in fenestration, carpentry, joinery, site work and basic building experience.
What to Expect
You will be joining a company with a long history and an increasing order book with plans for further development and growth. You will be part of a dynamic team who take pride in the work they produce and become an essential team member. The company are willing to invest in training and qualifications to enhance both yourself and the business needs, including NVQs, skills training etc. Full‑time role with working hours 08:00–16:45 Monday to Friday inclusive of a lunch break (40 hours per week). Hours need to be flexible to accommodate client needs. Overtime at an enhanced rate may be required to complete installations.
Rate of Pay
Over 21 – £12.71 to £14.33 per hour depending on experience. Under 21 – £10.85 to £14.33 per hour depending on experience.
