About this role
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver a flexible and innovative curriculum that is responsive to feedback from current learners and anticipates likely changes in demand from future learners.
- Continually improve standards of course performance and teaching and learning across all areas within the curriculum area.
- Provide clear leadership to all staff within the curriculum area so that the College can achieve its overall objective of being excellent in all areas.
- In conjunction with relevant Curriculum Leaders and Coordinators to agree targets for the recruitment and success of students at course level (including performance in English & Maths).
Required skills and experience:
- Has a degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
- Holds an appropriate teaching qualification such as DTLLS, PGCE or equivalent.
- Proven track record and experience of managing people to achieve excellent standards of teaching and learning.
- Has a good knowledge and understanding of the issues affecting teaching and learning within the curriculum area and affecting the FE sector in general.
- Is well organised and able to manage the peaks and troughs of a varied workload.
- Able to communicate effectively with students and peers.
- A good working knowledge of quality assurance processes within an FE setting.
- Proven track record in a Curriculum Manager (or equivalent) role.
- Experience of working with employers and service providers designing programmes to meet needs.
- A sound knowledge of the current hairdressing, beauty and media make‑up qualifications as part of a study programme to successfully prepare students for industry and/or higher education.
