The Parenteral Services Unit (PSU) of the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre is recruiting a Band 2 Specialist Cleaner/Assistant Technical Officer (ATO) for a 12‑month Fixed Term contract.

Role Overview

The PSU provides cytotoxic chemotherapy treatments and Parenteral Nutrition to the BHOC, St. Michael’s Hospital, and the Bristol Royal Children’s Hospital. You will join a dynamic team of pharmacists, technicians and assistants during a challenging period of developing a first‑class aseptic service. You will work alongside three other Specialist Cleaner/ATOs to maintain cleanroom standards and support store‑room activities.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake specialist cleaning of cleanroom areas and equipment as defined by departmental standard operating procedures.
  • Support aseptic preparation activities, including daily record keeping; receipt, transfer and storage of medicines, consumables and cleaning materials; delivery of products to wards; stock control; and maintenance of records.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Motivated, flexible, adaptable and able to work well in a team.
  • Previous specialist cleaning experience is not essential; full training will be provided on employment.
  • Suitable for school or college leavers and anyone wishing to work in this field.
  • A visit to the department before or during the application process is highly recommended.
