An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, experienced and capable Senior Specialist Biomedical Scientist, with an interest in career progression. The successful applicant will be a suitably qualified and experienced HCPC registered Specialist Biomedical Scientist who may hold or be working towards an MSc. This post is in the Biochemistry Section at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. The role involves management and deployment of staff within the Blood Sciences laboratory. You will lead the Biochemistry section and ensure that all aspects of the technical performance of that area are of the highest standard.
A Roche equipment refresh will be undertaken in the next few months. The department is an approved IBMS/HCPC training laboratory and continuous professional development is actively encouraged.
Responsibilities- Assist the Head BMS and other senior grade staff in the management of the department's sections.
- Manage and deploy staff within a section(s) of work assigned to you.
- Familiarize yourself with the local application of all relevant Trust policies (e.g., health and safety, HR (personnel)), and ensure that these policies are adhered to by yourself and the staff in your section.
- Deputise for the Deputy Head BMS in their absence and take direct responsibility for the department.
- Provide cover for other senior specialists within your department.
- Perform a range of senior specialist activities and provide highly specialist advice to clinicians and other service users.

The post is based at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, although candidates may be required to work across sites. A job share will be considered.
