This is a permanent position responsible for the coordination and scheduling of radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatment within the hospital. The role supports patients through their planning and treatment pathway and ensures safe, seamless, and efficient service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule pre‑assessment clinics, CT scans, plan reviews, verification and treatment appointments for patients undergoing radiotherapy and chemo‑radiotherapy.
- Manage radiotherapy waiting lists, prioritising patients according to clinical need, departmental guidelines and cancer targets.
- Document and monitor all aspects of patient care coordination and service delivery, maintaining accurate electronic patient records.
- Represent scheduling at departmental meetings, providing updates on timelines and delays to the radiotherapy/physics team.
- Coordinate with Consultant Clinical Oncologists and Physics staff to maintain patient flow and minimise treatment delays.
- Provide reception cover and conduct group radiotherapy pre‑assessment appointments, ensuring compliance with informed consent processes and treatment protocols.
- Answer patient queries, advise on radiotherapy processes, side‑effects, and address concerns.
Qualifications and Experience
- Specialist knowledge and skill in the use of Aria and radiotherapy scheduling.
- Familiarity with cancer waiting time targets, RCR guidelines, and radiotherapy treatment processes and side‑effects.
- Experience working as part of a radiotherapy team.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to explain complex information clearly to patients and staff.
