An exciting opportunity has arisen due to the opening of new modular wards at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Band 3 Therapy Support Worker to join our acute inpatient therapy team. The post holder will work in the Surgical team.

The role forms part of a team of generic support workers who currently work between the Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy teams. The candidate must have experience of working either within or alongside physiotherapy and/or occupational therapy, and experience working within an acute, NHS therapy team is desirable.

The working hours for this post will be 37.5 hours per week over 5 working days, which will include a weekend rota commitment. The role involves working with patients in a ward setting under supervision and guidance from a qualified Physiotherapist and/or Occupational Therapist. You will be responsible for managing your own delegated clinical caseload and support qualified professionals in completion of mobility and transfers assessments. Your role will be to carry out delegated tasks and support with all aspects of discharge planning.

The Therapy centre is committed to the SaTH’s overall vision to provide excellent care for the communities we serve. As a member of the Therapy Services Team, your contribution will be integral in enabling patients to receive holistic assessment to enable them to recover and be discharged from the hospital environment.

We believe in developing clinical and leadership skills at all levels and support all our Therapy Support Workers in having dedicated time for training and development.

Our Poppy’s Promise Commitment: We believe that compassionate care sits at the heart of everything we do. Every member of our team, clinical or non-clinical, plays a vital role in ensuring that patients, families, and colleagues are treated with dignity, empathy, and respect at all times. We expect all staff to demonstrate compassion not only through their words, but through their actions: by listening attentively, communicating clearly and kindly, and recognising individual needs, feelings, and circumstances of those in our care.

Effective communication is central to safe and high-quality healthcare. We value colleagues who take the time to understand others, explain information in a meaningful way, and respond to concerns with patience and understanding. By joining our team, you are committing to uphold these values ensuring that every patient feels heard, respected, and valued, and that compassion is embedded in every interaction, every day.
