This is an exciting role, contributing to improvements in patient care by supporting with national audits including Myocardial Infarction National Audit Project (MINAP), National Respiratory Audit Programme (NRAP) COPD and asthma audits and SSNAP (Sentinel Stroke National Audit). After training, you will extract relevant information from patient records and hospital computer systems and enter it onto online national audit data entry systems.

You will be working in a friendly, supportive and enthusiastic team in modern offices within The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital Site. You will be trained, supervised and supported by a Clinical Audit Facilitator, and when competent will organise and manage your own workload. The role is mainly office based, but involves visiting departments around the hospital to collect relevant information. There is also a requirement to travel to The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford and other off site locations.

The role involves reviewing paper patient records and hospital computer systems to collect data for national audits. You will enter patient data onto online data entry systems for these essential audits. You will carry out data analysis using Microsoft Excel, prepare PowerPoint presentations and present an update on progress at meetings. You will also carry out administration duties relating to national audits, including completing, registering and filing audit proposal forms, sending emails to audit leads, meeting with clinical staff to discuss audits, and recording information on the Clinical Audit Information System (CAIS). When trained you will delegate some tasks to Clinical Audit Clerks. There is an occasional requirement to collect patient records for clinical audit.

The information from national audits is used to measure the Trust's performance and this is a vital role, supporting improvements to patient care, which is driven by audit results.
