Known for their strong values, supportive culture and long‑standing staff retention, this business is now seeking an experienced Accounts Assistant to join their established finance team on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract covering maternity leave. Your new role
As Accounts Assistant, you will play an important role within a well‑structured finance team, supporting the Finance Manager and wider department with day‑to‑day transactional duties.
- Purchase Ledger
- Processing high volumes of supplier invoices accurately and efficiently
- Matching, batching and coding invoices in line with company processes
- Reconciling supplier statements and ensuring any discrepancies are resolved promptly
- Managing supplier queries professionally and building strong relationships with external partners
- Assisting with weekly and monthly payment runs to ensure timely settlement of accounts
- Performing daily and monthly bank reconciliations across multiple accounts
- Investigating and resolving reconciling items to maintain accurate financial records
- Assisting the team with month-end closing activities
- Posting journals and preparing supporting documentation
- Helping with reporting tasks as required to ensure deadlines are met
This is a varied and hands-on role that would suit someone who enjoys working in a busy and supportive finance function.
What you’ll need to succeed
- We are looking for a confident and experienced Accounts Assistant who can hit the ground running.
- Previous experience in a similar finance or accounts support role
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in all work
- Good IT proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Excel
