About the Role
As a Class 1 Driver, you’ll play a key role in the smooth, efficient movement of palletised freight across our network. Your responsibilities will include:
- Operating a curtain‑side trailer to trunk palletised goods from our Shepton Mallet depot to pallet‑network hubs in the West Midlands, before reloading back to Shepton Mallet.
- Providing internal trunking support where required, including accurately verifying freight against the manifest at each depot stop.
- Taking advantage of opportunities to gain additional certifications, including LST (Longer Semi‑Trailer) and ADR during your employment.
- Ensuring all goods are safely loaded, secured, and protected, using straps, nets, and other appropriate securing equipment.
- Completing daily vehicle safety checks via your company mobile device to maintain the highest standards of safety and reliability.
- Maintaining regular communication with the Transport Team, keeping them updated on progress and helping ensure excellent customer service.
- Attending ongoing training and development sessions to stay up to date with industry standards and best practice.
Essential Skills & Qualifications

- UK Class 1 (C+E) Licence
- Valid DCPC Card and Digital Tachograph Card
- A genuine commitment to delivering excellent customer service
- Ability to work to time‑critical deadlines
- Confident, polite, and team‑oriented attitude
- Strong geographical knowledge
- Physically fit, flexible, hardworking, and self‑motivated
