This position plays a crucial role in supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), ensuring they thrive through tailored interventions and collaborative practices. The SEND practitioner will coordinate SEND provisions while mentoring team members and partnering with families and external professionals. Develop and implement individual education plans (EHCPs) for children with special educational needs.
Responsibilities
- Provide tailored support through behaviour management techniques and applied behaviour analysis.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external specialists to create an inclusive learning environment.
- Offer mentoring and tutoring to both students and staff, enhancing the overall educational experience.
- Conduct assessments and monitor progress, adjusting strategies as necessary to meet individual needs.
- Facilitate speech therapy sessions as required, promoting effective communication skills among children.
- Host workshops and provide resources on topics like understanding behaviour, EHCPs, and accessing support services.
- Adhere to all safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure children's safety and well-being.
- Identify professional development opportunities to enhance team capabilities.
Qualifications
- Have a Level 3 qualification in Special Educational Needs Coordination or equivalent experience.
- Detailed knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice (2015) and EYFS.
- Good safeguarding knowledge is essential, but regular updated training will be provided.
- All applicants are required to undertake an Enhanced Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service, the cost of this will be covered by Brambles Day Nursery.
- All applicants are required to subscribe to the DBS Update service and maintain the annual fee of £13.00.
