Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm (term time only)

Long Term Futures is seeking a calm, consistent, and supportive SEN Teaching Assistant to work with a small group of pupils across Reception and Year 1, primarily supporting children with complex needs, communication and sensory needs.

This is a full-time position within a warm and inclusive primary school in Kings Norton offered on a long term basis with the potential to become permanent for the successful candidate.

  • Providing targeted 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with ASD and additional learning needs
  • Using visual supports, structured routines, and sensory strategies to aid engagement and understanding
  • Supporting communication using methods such as Makaton, PECS, and visual timetables
  • Encouraging emotional regulation and independence through the Zones of Regulation and other approaches
  • Collaborating closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and external professionals to deliver consistent, high-quality support
  • Helping pupils develop social interaction and play skills within a nurturing and structured environment

Experience: Minimum of 1 year supporting children with ASD or complex SEN

Skills: Strong understanding of autism strategies, sensory processing, and behaviour regulation techniques

Approach: Patient, consistent, and proactive with a calm and nurturing demeanour
